Review of Brothers Restaurant in Ashland

Brothers Restaurant is located at 95 N. Main just off the plaza. Offering an eclectic menu with breakfast served all day. Upon entering the restaurant there is a colorful board listing the Specials of the Day.

Arriving with my three dining companions before ten am we had our choice of seating. We seated ourselves upstairs in a room that was bright and open.  Our server was friendly but distant. Our meals were delivered quickly, and the presentation was fresh.
I ordered the #9 omelet (guacamole, tomatoes and cheddar) made with 3 eggs served with hash browns, English muffin. My omelet was yummy. The hash browns were a little too crisp for my taste.
Two of my dining companions ordered French toast made with thick sliced multi-grain bread. One thoroughly enjoyed his meal while the other repeated “I want a do over”. My third companion was thrilled to find Huevos con Chorizo (scrambled eggs served with Mexican sausage with cheddar cheese and green onions) on the menu, but thought the Chorizo tasted more like Italian sausage. The portions were plenty.

As we were paying our bill our server reappeared and was a bit more animated. Will I go back?
You bet—I heard the lunches are the best. 
 

The food and the service are rated jointly.

Hello readers, have I got a surprise for you. As much as I love astrology I just had to introduce you to my second favorite and easiest instrument of divination, Numerology. Numerology is the study of numbers. Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician is said to be the originator of much of what we call numerology today. These numbers show a great deal about character, purpose in life, what motivates, and where talents may lie.

Twelve numbers are used to construct a numerology chart. They are numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 22 and 33. This month you will learn how to figure your personal year. The Personal year is helpful in understanding what the year may hold for you. Now, I know we are a couple months into 2008 but I really feel you need to learn this. Here is the formula to calculate your personal year. Don’t forget to have some fun with this.

 

First, reduce the month and day of your birth, your birthday, to a single digit. Using my birthday for example, January 18th, that single digit would be 1 (1+18=10; 1+0=1). If your month and day total comes to 11 or 22, the master numbers, in this instance, reduce the number to 2 and 4, respectively. Next, reduce the year for which you are making the calculation to a single digit. The year 2008 would become 1. Now, add the single digit representing your birthday to the single digit representing the year in question (1+1). Thus, 2008 is a 2 personal year for me.

 1          A Time to start new things, add to the old or make changes. Be a leader, not a follower. Use your originality. You will be very active.
2          Work with others this year. Cooperate serve others. Partnerships and marriages. Keep peace, arbitrate. This is the month for collecting things.
3          Use your creative talents for self-expression. Make new friends. Seek social activities and entertainment.
4          Work is the key word this year. Build a solid foundation. Do the small, detailed things. Be practical. Place things in order.
5          Many changes. New interests new people and new places. Travel. Promote new business ideas by advertising. Expand. Don’t get into a rut.
6          Shoulder your responsibilities to your home, family and community. Make your surroundings beautiful. Add music. The year for marriage or divorce.
7          Perfect what you are working on. Use patience. Analyze. Don’t talk too much about your projects. Observe, a time for intellectual writing and faith. Read and study. Gain knowledge of the self. Rest.
8          Use good judgment in all things. Opportunity for material gain, manage your money well, expenses could match income. Add to your business.

9          Humanitarian service. Represents selflessness, success comes to those who help others without wanting personal gain. Tie loose ends.

Introducing the Personal Planets
  

The natal chart (also called a birth chart or horoscope) acts as a "window" to the self. There are ten planets that make up the chart but this month we will focus on the first five Personal Planets, the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars.

You will learn what these planets govern and how they affect your life.

 

First there is our Sun sign, a person's internal parent or adult, and few things get past him/her. The Sun will listen to all of the other planets' input, but the Sun is the boss—the one who screens the action. The Sun will sends out the different planets on different missions.


The Moon is our internal child. The Moon represents our feelings, often those that are difficult to put into words. When we are feeling and thinking one thing, and are asked what is on our mind, more often than not our Sun (adult) screens these feelings so that what come out of our mouth stops us from telling our true feelings. (You know when a friend asks if you like something and you just say yes to be nice)  


Then Mercury, the planet of communication, showcases how we express ourselves and rules our more impersonal thought processes. Think about the style in which you communicate; perhaps you are fast and furious, slow and deliberate, or somewhere in between. All these styles are determined by Mercury.

 

Next is Venus, the feminine aspect of the chart. Venus expresses what makes us feel good; our desires and the way we approach relationships, money, romance, and love. Venus represents social interactions, social attitudes, the arts, and where our values lie and how we set our priorities.

 

And last but not least—Mars. Mars represents action, masculine energy. Our first active impulses are ruled by Mars. What fires us up, what gets us out of bed, and what lights our fire—most importantly the passion in which we pursue our wants. Mars represents impulse and embodies our instinct for survival—the "fight or flight" instinct.

People, I am excited. I can barely contain myself.
Pluto, the planet of death, rebirth and regeneration has moved into the sign of Capricorn until 2034. Pluto will retrograde back into Sagittarius one final time on June 14. It will journey back into Capricorn on November 26, 2008 and remain there until January 21, 2024.

For sixteen years, Pluto will engage in a process of breaking down and then rebuilding the structures on which we depend for a successful experience in the material world. This will touch all of us on a deeply personal level at some time during the next 16 years. 

Pluto in Capricorn is a powerful combination that can have a regenerative effect on the masses. Expect massive changes in government or business structures that are no longer sustainable or which seek to control through manipulation and suppression. The good news is that if we are ready to let go of the past and outmoded forms of governance and power, Pluto could "level the decks" so we can start over with a stronger foundation to build on. Capricorn rules political leaders, the government, and people in positions of social power. This will make politics more black and white but whichever political wing gains power, the masses will exercise more active participation. Don't forget, this is an election year.  

Pluto reforms. Breaking down crystallized old concepts, structures, and outlived forms of government. Capricorn also rules the elderly and end of life issues, and Pluto's passage through Capricorn could transform the way we view the entire process of death and dying. It rules the homoeopathic principle in medicine, and will bring purifying change to whatever needs to be cleared up. The generation of children born under this accord can well be known as â€śThe Reformers”.

of that sounds pretty exciting and I for one am ready for change.

Happy New Year! 




Hear Ye Hear Ye, Jupiter the planet of expansion has entered Capricorn and will last until January 2009. Jupiter a kind of cosmic Santa Claus: generous, optimistic, excessive, showy, opinionated, passionate and boastful.  Jupiter comes around to visit each sign about every twelve years so this is a big deal! 




Below is a brief summary on how Jupiter’s transit in Capricorn will affect you, based on your sun signs. If you know your ascendant sign, read that forecast too. Enjoy!

Aries - Jupiter gives you the green light in the area of career and work. You can achieve a great deal in 2008 if you are willing to work hard. You will have options. Some Rams may find their dream job. (I’m talking to you Laura, Brita).

Taurus - This is the best year to travel; especially to foreign countries. It’s time to take action and go get that certificate or degree that you have been dreaming about.

Naturally intuitive, when you find yourself wanting to go in a new direction, read, attend a workshop on the area you are interested in and don’t forget to open your heart and mind to receive messages from your surroundings.

Allow your intuition to flow in all areas of your life so that you can be more independent, and don’t forget to pay attention to the people in your life. Look into creative visualization to help you manifest all those ideas that pop into your head.

Your intuition is powerful, so please focus on cultivating your attention skills. Find a meditation that works for you and please don’t forget to breathe. Try this -get a pair of dice, shake them and let them roll. It can be very hypnotizing and it works!

Deepen your personal values through you intuition. You don’t have to share everything with everybody. Take stock of your career and relationships. Your intuition is developed you just need to listen and trust it.

Your cautious nature sometimes talks you out of trusting your intuition. But when you get back on target, you are a force.  You must learn to trust your intuition, when you do you will be able to break through worn out beliefs that keep you from your bliss.

Allow your intuition to help you build on your strengths and not pointing out others short comings. If you experience difficulty sleeping at night then try keeping a sleep journal. Your intuition is trying to get your attention.  Go for a walk, take a yoga class or take a bath just learn to be still.

Pay attention to your dreams. Though you may become restless and confused, your intuition is helping you to let go of old beliefs.  Don’t be afraid to share your insight with family and friends. They know you are not bragging just becoming more confident.

November greetings to All.

 

I want to talk to you about one of the two classifications of the signs of the Zodiac—The Elements.

 

The Elements (Fire, Earth, Air and Water) are based on ancient Greek philosophy. The ancients went back to square one, the building blocks of life: the solid earth upon which we stand, the running water we use as a resource, the air we breathe and the fire which keeps us warm and aids in the creation of additional resources. See the kinship to science.

 

As Astrology developed, the Greeks began attaching elemental characteristics to the Signs, seeing as how it made sense to place a watery label on a more emotional sort. This led to the classification of the Signs to their corresponding Elements.

 

The four elements and their corresponding Signs are Fire (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces). While the Elements describe our basic nature, once combined in our overall astrological chart, they help to define us as a whole and complex person.

 

In looking at an individual's astrological chart, the presence of more Fire Signs may well indicate a fiery, combustible personality. The absence of Earth Signs in a person's chart would indicate someone who is not very grounded or practical. The presence of a mix of all of the Elements would be a sign of a well-rounded individual.

 

Each Element reflects a quality of human nature: Fire (think physical), Earth (think practical), Air (think intellectual) and Water (think emotional).

 

So the next time you are engaged in conversation and the person gets all bend out of shape or not making any sense, chances are they're missing an element.

Cancer, you are the king/queen of nurturing. Fix your favourite drink and put it in your favourite glass. My friend Leslie (who is a Cancer) gave me a beautiful goblet and called it “Linda’s goblet of abundance”. I love it and when I drink from it –okay, you get the picture. Anyway, back to you – put on your favourite music, bring out all the old photos and start calling the people you love. Or maybe you want to plan a vacation, fix a yummy dish, go the bookstore, or rent a movie. Whatever you do, it will be magical!

If you’re born between 23 July – 23 August then you are a: Leo

Leo, how you love the spotlight but sometimes you want silence. Read, relax and enjoy your favourite sports show.
