"What About Me?" is an inspiring and alarming look at our collective insanity: how we are ego-driven, needy in relationships, insatiable in desire, maniupulated by advertising, full of "mad intelligence" & cleverness, addicted to status, wounded by childhood and unable to stop thinking, but how we still manage to be inspired and creative.
"What About Me?" explores through music, interviews, poetry and dance, the complexities of human nature on a global scale, and aims to reveal how we are all connected through our creativity and beliefs, but most of all through our madness. Filmed in 50 different global locations ove 4 years period, "What About Me?" is a powerful affirmation that the Humanity that unites us is far stronger than the forces dividing us.

RED EARTH DESCENDANTS presents FIRST NATIONS DAY/NATIVE ECOSYMPOSIUM September 20/21, Noon to evening each day Beginning with a Women's Circle 10 a.m. Saturday Briscoe ArtWing 265 N. Main, Ashland, Oregon
SALMON IN THE KLAMATH AND TRINITY RIVERS
In honor of our third annual First Nations Day and Native EcoSymposium, Red Earth Descendants invites the community to share a weekend committed to the issue of SALMON SURVIVAL along the Klamath and Trinity Rivers. In accordance to the vision and commitment R.E.D. has to make positive and healing relations with the indigenous peoples of this region--the Karuk, Hupa, Yurok, Takelma, Shasta, Klamath, Calapooya, Modoc and Yahooskin Tribes--we understand the survival of salmon in their homelands is a CORE CULTURAL ISSUE of survival for the Indigenous People. We intend to let this be our platform for education and discussion at our EcoSymposium this year. We've asked some of these tribal connections to take the lead on the subject matter. Also a core commitment for R.E.D. is the honoring of youth and elder projects. It was the Native American Student Union (NASU) youth from Southern Oregon University who inspired this subject matter to gain attention in our group as a small contingency of Karuk/Hupa/Yurok/Klamath students have worked as activists on the salmon crisis most of their lives and want to participate in the EcoSymposium, bringing the community their perspective as Native youth, holding on to the survival of their way of life--with salmon being at the center of their existence.
In addition to salmon restoration, we will host discussion about how to understand the indigenous food base of our local region, involving oak/acorn restoration and other indigenous food resources.
Tribal representatives and people working in these fields will lead discussion of ways we can all--young and old--work on restoring Native foods and medicinal plants for a better way of life.
All R.E.D. events are drug and alcohol free. First Nations Day/Native EcoSymposium is FREE OF CHARGE! We welcome eco-vendors, environmental tabling/literatrue Daily Community Feasts, Saturday 6 p.m. and Sunday Noon
Some of our cosponsors include: NASU Karuk/Hupa/Yurok/Klamath Tribes, Klamath Riverkeepers, Lomakatsi Restoration Project, Bernard's Composting, City of Ashland Recycling/Sanitation, Allied Environmental, Computer Drop-off, Natives of One Wind Indigenous Alliance, Lithia Arts Guild, Madrona Arts, the Karuk Tribe and more. We will also host a variety of eco-vendors with hands-on products and displays.
Members of R.E.D. have had a training through the City of Ashland regarding how to create a "Zero Waste" event. We have a transitional goal for this year's EcoSymposium to work towards zero waste. To attain this goal, we will have a recycling station and very little throw-away products. This will be a BRING YOUR OWN PLATE AND WARE event! (This could be a story in itself, and we encourage the press to cover this!) We will provide plates at a rental cost, and if you don't have funds to offer rent of eating ware, you can help wash dishes. We will be showing a power point presentation, created by a City of Ashland employee working with the City doing more zero waste events, demonstrating how this can be achieved. The best goal to have is to use non-paper products so that everything can be re-USED, rather than re-CYCLED.

Please remember that we are having community potluck feasts THIS WEEKEND at the Native EcoSymposium, Saturday's dinner at around 6 p.m. and Sunday's lunch at around Noon. In the traditional Native way, we do this potluck-style and we welcome you all to bring what you can and join us! Please also remember our goal is to make this a "zero-waste" event, so bring your own eatware and enjoy the feasts.
The symposium starts at Noon on Saturday, preceded by a women's circle at 10 a.m.. If you are bringing potluck items that need to be kept cold, we will have some cooler storage. We would appreciate your bringing extra coolers for this purpose, if you can.
THANK YOU! Looking forward to gathering with the People this weekend,
Jaimie Red Earth Descendants

The Human Revolution is Coming! The Love Revolution Tour Mystic country jam rock band The Human Revolution, based on the rocky and serene Mendocino Coast in Northern California, is coming to town to perform their spiritually uplifting high energy non-dogmatic country-funk music. The Love Revolution tour marks the release of the group's first album as a full band, following the success of front man and singer/songwriter Human's first four solo albums. The album is a blend of country and jam rock flavored tunes featuring roaring guitars, funky fiddle work, sweet harmonies and even a reggae organ or two all supporting the spiritual, social and political themed lyrics which have made Human's music and video work an underground phenomena.
