Some folks ask 'What would Jesus do?' The answer is always the same no matter what - he'd forgive! Giddy up!

Life of Mikey

I am a former 'Masshole', born and raised on the south coast of Massachusetts, in the city of New Bedford. In the summer of 2004, I took a 'leap of faith', leaving my cushy job and comfortable life behind for the 'unknown' when spirit called me out to Mount Shasta, CA. One year later, I moved here to Ashland, OR, a place that feels very much like home to me; a place where I can be this vegan eating, tie-dye shirt wearing, skinny white guy, with my long hair and spiritual awareness in tow, and be considered almost normal!

Spirituality is a very important part of my life, though I do not subscribe to any type of organized religion. However, my childhood did include nine years of catholic school, ouch! Anyway, my spiritual path is A Course in Miracles as described in Gary Renard's books. It's a rather simple path really, yet not an easy one. Faith and gratitude, along with a whacked sense of humor, and a heavy dose of rock n' roll, keeps me sane through it all - otherwise, I'd be jonesin'!

My intention in this currnet incarnation is to keep practicing living at the level of cause rather than effect, and to become more spiritually aware each and every day, while helping others to do the same along the way, as we all create a new paradigm of humaneness on this planet, which we sorely need. Oh, and my other objective is to win a new jeep on The Price is Right, giddy up!

Employment
Currently, I work in the HR Pension Benefits department at Harry & David in Medford. Formerly, I did investigative work for Bank of America in Boston, MA and Providence, RI.

Gary Renard's books and A Course in Miracles, music, burning mixed MP3 discs, my iPod, karaoke, freestyle dance, internet, my digital camera, movies, organic/vegan foods, ACIM/DU groups, blogging, gambling, meditation, Seinfeld references, hermit tendencies, and joy riding in the jeep on the freeway, with the top down, while rockin' out to my favorite tunes, giddy up!

I can do some wicked cool Beavis and Butthead impersonations. Yes, I am a whacko! But laughter is one of our greatest gifts, and it's best not to take ourselves, and the world we live in, too damn seriously! Otherwise, it'll take us.

Outside of movies, I watch very little tv. My favorite tv series of all time is Roswell. The only current show I watch is Medium. I also enjoy an occasional rerun of Seinfeld.

Of all the books I've read during my years of feasting in the 'spiritual buffet line,' nothing has explained the truth about God and our existence, and why we are seemingly here, any clearer to me than the books of Gary Renard.

Gary’s books address heavy subject matter, while cutting to the chase in no uncertain terms, and doing so in a very entertaining and humorous fashion. I highly recommend them, though they are not intended for the squeamish nor the faint of heart, as the material is not sugarcoated:

Books:
The Disappearance of the Universe - Straight Talk about Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics, and the Miracles of Forgiveness
Your Immortal Reality - How to Break the Cycle of Birth and Death
Love has Forgotten No One - The Answer to Life

Audio Series:
Secrets of the Immortal - Advanced Teachings from A Course in Miracles
The End of Reincarnation - Breaking the Cycle of Birth and Death
Fearless Love - The Answer to the Problem of Human Existence

About A Course in Miracles:
A Course in Miracles is a spiritual, purely non-dualistic, self-study course, often referred to in Gary's books. As quoted from The Disappearance of the Universe, 'The Course is Jesus speaking as an artist correcting the Bible which was allegedly based on his teachings.'

Written in Shakespearean blank verse and loaded with subtly humorous rhetorical questions, the Course is Jesus' teachings the way, I believe, they were intended to be - consistent and uncompromising, all about love and forgiveness, and absolutely nothing to do with sin, fear, guilt, sacrifice, and showing up to church on Sunday. As the Course states, '...those who seek controversy will find it. Yet those who seek clarification will find it as well.'

The Course is all about the healing of the subconscious mind, which entails looking at your illusions, examining them, and eventually releasing them through a process called true forgiveness. As it states in the Course, 'No one can escape from illusions unless he looks at them, for not looking is the way they are protected.'

Though the Course is presented in Christian terminology, it is very Eastern in its theology and practice, as it gets in touch with the power of the mind. I don't recommend taking it on without having read Gary's books first, as it will save you much time while helping you to really grasp the heart of the Course.

Honorable mention of my mom's spiritual adventure novel, Atlantis Rising, written under her pen name, Corbitt Taylore.

Mikey likes his music to kick a lil' ass! I'm a rocker at heart so I dig all kinds of hard rock music, especially from the 80s. Bon Jovi is my favorite band, particularly their stuff post 2000. In general, my music tastes range from Yanni to Metallica with some good dance songs thrown into the mix. Giddy up!

I have not a freakin' idea!

Any organization that helps out animals without condemning or hurting people.

Usually on my couch, while watching tv, with my legs stretched out on my cooler. But when I do eat out, usually take out, I go with a place that is vegan friendly. The Co-op deli has some good vegan choices. Also like Grilla Bites.

The rhetorical question: Would you rather be right, or would you rather be happy? Still working on this one, but I'm much better at it than I used to be!

Back in my days as a smart-ass teenager, and even into my 20s, I responded '...well, I'm happy when I'm right!' Of course, I now see the foolishness in that response, as needing to be right will only keep one stuck in illusions, while at best, giving one a transitory state of satisfaction.

I could do without cigarette smoke and leaf blowers.

Anyone practicing 'true forgiveness'; anyone expressing their divinity, or higher-self, at any given moment; all of the spiritual masters since they express only the divine at all times.
