www.localsguide.com - LUNCH AT THE BREADBOARD RESTAURANT There’snot a whole lot to offer in eateries at this end of town, so when I wasinvited to have lunch at the Breadboard, I thought “oh great, I canwalk” (a block and a half from home) but the weather didn’t cooperate.  As it turned out, we went for a later lunch, and the Breadboard was almost full to capacity at 12:45 on a Tuesday.  After a short wait, we were seated and our server, Melissa, was gracious and attentive. Iknow the Breadboard must have great breakfasts/brunches because I oftensee the crowds waiting outside for a table on Sundays…but lunch was arelative unknown.  A rainy afternoon suggested asteamy, homemade soup, but the soups just didn’t tickle my fancy; so,as a committed breakfast junky, I opted for eggs and my friend selecteda sandwich.   Therestaurant was bustling , homey and cozy—with a choice of theirtraditional dining room or their patio room, staff greeted and attendedto customers with friendly efficiency.  The menu tended toward conventional…sandwiches, soups and…BEAKFAST!  I’m a pushover for a good omelet, so the Greek Omlette (approx $10) featuring feta and olives caught my attention.  I also indulged in a tasty glass of fresh squeezed OJ.  With Greek olives in the omelet, I’m glad I don’t salt my food because it was tasty as is.  Served with authentic home fries (enough to feed an army), and I also indulged in a Hiker Bagel.  All told, I ended up taking much of my meal “to go” and enjoyed seconds that evening.  My friend ordered a half sandwich, ham, with a slaw side and the “half” was more the size of a whole.   We enjoyed our lunch at the Breadboard and thank them for their warm hospitality.  The Breadboard Restaurant is located in Ashland at 744 North Main Street, open every day from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
