MEDFORD, OR—August 15, 2008—Soroptimist and Venture clubs of the Rogue Valley are seeking team sponsors and individual walkers for the 2nd annual Wine Walk for Women’s Health, which will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008.

This fundraising effort, which was established last year, was created to raise awareness as well as necessary funding to assist low-income women in our community, who are under-insured or uninsured and needing health care for diseases that impact women. Last year’s Wine Walk event raised $10,000 and all of that money supported local healthcare agencies and hospitals.

Proceeds go directly to benefit the detection of cancer, and to provide support services for other diseases impacting Rogue Valley women such as breast cancer, gynecological cancers, heart disease and other diseases, which can create a devastating financial burden. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes, and heart disease is now the number one killer of women in the United States. Diagnosis and fighting these diseases and other cancers that affect women can be financially and emotionally straining. Soroptimists are dedicated to helping local women get the medical attention they need. The financial support of our sponsors will make this mission possible.

The Wine Walk for Women’s Health is a five-mile walk between three wineries in the Applegate Valley – Bridgeview Vineyard and Winery, Troon Vineyard, and Wooldridge Creek Vineyard and Winery. Transportation is available to and from Jacksonville for everyone and between the vineyards for those with physical limitations. Restrooms and two water stations will be available along the route.

The 2nd Annual Wine Walk for Women’s Health invites you to get involved in helping improve the health care of local women. The goal this year is to raise $20,000. A five-tier sponsorship program is offered, allowing prospective sponsors to choose a level that best fits within your own business plans. These sponsorships include Presenting Sponsor – a $5,000 pledge; Gold Sponsors– a $3,000 pledge; Silver Sponsors - $1,000 Pledge; Bronze Sponsors - $500 pledge; and Walk Team Sponsors - $350 pledge.

As well as the above Wine Walk Team sponsorships, you can also participate by forming a Community Wine Walk Team, which are forming now. Team registration fees are $35 per team member. People can also sign up as an Individual Walker for $35 per person.

Einstein Breast Cancer Center and Birthplace, Community Health Centers, La Clinica del Valle and Ashland Community Hospital.

Sponsors, teams and individuals are being asked to pre-register by August 31 to ensure getting a cap.
