Dogs for the Deaf Presents 17th Annual Dog Walk

Saturday, May 31 -- 8:30-1:00pm

It’s time to register for Dogs for the Deaf’s Annual Dog Walk 2008—presented by Batteries PLUS. Dog Walk is a fun event for the entire family. Register early so you can begin collecting your donations to WIN GREAT PRIZES! By participating in Dog Walk you help Dogs for the Deaf rescue dogs from shelters across the Northwest and train them to help people who have severe hearing loss, deafness or other special physical or emotional needs.  Dogs for the Deaf is the oldest, largest and most respected Hearing Dog training facility in the U.S.

Dog Walk is Saturday May 31 at Hawthorne Park in Medford.  Activities begin at 8:30 a.m. and include breakfast and lunch for participants, Demonstrations provided by Rogue Canine Agility, DFD’s Hearing Dogs, and the Josephine County Sheriff’s K-9 Dept.  Contests include prizes for the Best Canine & Owner Costume contest, Best Singing Dog and Best Dog Smile. There is also a Milk Bone stacking contest for kids! Join the Parade and stroll along the walkway between Hawthorne Parkand Bear Creek Park.  There will be lots of great prizes along with thousands of dollars in raffle and silent auction prizes to bid on (trips, dinners, artwork, certificates and more).

New this year-- the American Humane’s Big Rig Rescue Truck is touring the Northwest and stopping at Dog Walk. Come and explore the “Big Rig”-- it is 82 ft. long and is always fully equipped to staff and respond to emergencies such as floods, fires, earthquakes, tornadoes and other disasters.

Dog Walk’s registration fee is only $20 per person or $75 per team/family of 4 and includes goodie bags for participants, event T-shirt with matching bandana, raffle ticket, continental breakfast and a complimentary hot dog lunch (provided by Safeway, Allann Bros. Coffee, Coca Cola and State of Jefferson Antique Car Club). Those who raise the most donations for DFD will receive valuable prizes and will be entered into a drawing for a $250 gift certificate from Pet Country!
