What Ashland Needs Is...?

My wife and I were talking the other day...Ashland has so many wonderful places: restaurants, bakeries, wineries, galleries...you get the idea. But then we started thinking...what is missing? Is there a particular type of restaurant or gallery or venue or ?....Sound off by replying to this blog. We'd love to hear what fellow Ashlanders want--but don't necessarily have.

We look forward to reading everyone's replies. Peace.

Ashland needs ........an ocean.
How cool would this place be if, instead of Emigrant Lake, we had a killer surf spot ten minutes away.   Just dreamin'.

Everyone has such great ideas...let's see, yep, the library tops the list at this moment, but I see a really fabulous drive-in theater and TRAINS (regional and state) in our future too!

I would say Ashland Needs the following:

- A permanent outdoor space with wood stalls for the Farmers Market. (Much like the Olympia, Washington Farmers Market)

- I like the idea of linda for a larger /center / palace for healing arts. Mingtong and I were just talking about this today.

- A library that stays open and has as many books as Barnes & Noble

- A bus that runs on the weekends for the working people who need it.

- A few more Thai Restaurant Options might be nice, Bamboo in Medford (wins for me)

- Oh, and a high speed train which could get someone to Portland or Seattle easily.

PS: Ditto to Roberts Requests as well expecially the gondola.

Hi Noffkido:

Ashland needs:

A place/center where people like me can give psychic/astrology readings, present workshops, hang out create good energy and enjoy a cup of chai or coffee.

That's my wish list.

An Ashland Intuitive,

Linda C. Thomas

Good question! My wish list for Ashland:

--a bowling alley with retro arcade games that cost a quarter

--a funky second-run and classics movie house that serves Oregon microbrews and has live music from time to time

--an outdoor rock climbing arena

--replace the Tidings with a town crier on the plaza

--a vibrant, eclectic literary/arts magazine

--an old-fashioned Jewish deli

--a catapult that heave-hos pumpkins, to augment our famous Halloween festivities

--a skycab/gondola from Lithia Park to the lodge at Mt. Ashland

--a public library would be a nice thing to have, since we won't soon
